Small Biz Marketing - A lil’ Boost?

helppic2 Isn’t it amazing how as a small business owner, you can have a deep understanding of complicated matters, yet make elementary mistakes over and over in other (Far simpler) areas?

Let me illustrate… One of the most difficult things for me to grasp was the importance of delegating responsibility. I take pride in my work, and I truly love what I do. However, for many years I bounced against an invisible income barrier for no other reason than I tried to do everything myself.

Deep down inside, the ego was telling me “Hey dummy, you can do the job far better than this guy, why not just do it yourself?” Problem is, this little nagging voice isn’t always right! On the surface, the argument makes sense doesn’t it?

But here in the real world, we have very human issues to contend with. One of those issues is time. When you’re overloaded with work, and stressed as you struggle to meet deadlines, are you putting out top quality work? The answer is a resounding “NO!” Quality suffers when you rush. When quality suffers, nobody wins. It would have made far more sense to pass the work off to someone else who has the time and vested interest in doing a great job.

The work gets done, you operate at a higher level since you’re not as rushed, and your client is happy. Once I was able to start giving up specific tasks and out-sourcing day to say tasks, not only did my income grow, but feedback from clients indicated they were happier with the results as well. Why not give it a chance?
